Sprague High School Manga Club
Guess what?

We have a Manga Club party coming up!

In case you guys missed the last meeting (and shame on you, because it was awesome! Even if technology apparently hates me and punished my existence by only allowing us to watch the first half of Durarara!!’s pilot episode…) the next meeting is Friday, December 16th in the library!

I know it’s strange with the meeting being on a Friday, but it makes the party that much more fun.

However, it will be even better if you guys can help!

We need everyone - yes, even you - to bring stuff! Chips, cookies, candy, soda, and maybe even some healthier food, haha. Bring it in! We’re gonna chow down and be awesome.

Also, wear your cosplays!

Alsoalso, PLEASE BRING A WHITE ELEPHANT PRESENT.

For those who don’t know, a white elephant gift exchange is when people (aka, the Manga Club) bring really dorky things they have lying around the house (gift-wrapped, so we can’t tell what it is), and we swap them! After you figure out what the present is, you can continue to swap until you get what you want! You can bring anything! Old manga, figurines, dorky novelty t-shirts, anything! But, please, no drawings.

Can’t wait to see everyone on Friday!! <3

Meeting #5 Recap

Thank you to everyone that came to the meeting! It was the first meeting of the month, which meant it was Manga of the Month! This month’s manga/anime selection was the hilarity known as Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, created by Yoshio Sawai. We watched the first episode and discussed joke anime. It was a very fun meeting!

Our lovely Lisa also made the announcement that meetings will now be held EVERY FIRST AND THIRD THURSDAY OF THE MONTH. No more of this every-other-week nonsense.

So, with that in mind, I would like to announce that our next meeting will be Thursday, November 17th in the library after school, where we will be discussing the art of AMV (animated-music-video) making! My good friend Miranda (who is an avid video maker) will be leading our discussion.

Meeting tomorrow!

After school, in the library, as per usual.

Sorry about the late notice!

Meeting #4 Recap

Admit it - who didn’t come?

Sorry about the lack of fanfare. Not many people knew we had a meeting today (the 25th of October) during lunch in the library. No worries, though!

The meeting was about the carnival on Friday. We were looking for volunteers, and we got tons! Thank you to everyone who signed up!

The carnival is this Friday (the 28th) from 4-6:30. After the carnival, you can just walk over to the stadium and watch the game with me, haha!

If you signed up to volunteer, please show up. Honor your commitments! And even if you’re not volunteering, come anyway! The carnival is free, and game tickets are 25 cents each!

Meeting #3 Recap

Wow! We’re already on our third meeting!

Today was pretty chill - our dear president had some things to do, so I (Allie, for those of you who didn’t grasp that) led the meeting today! We watched two episodes of the incredibly awesome anime, “Astro Boy.” It was very fun and interesting, and a lot of laughter was had (because, let’s be honest, when you’re faced with dubbing from the 1970’s, you’re going to laugh).

Everyone had a really great time, and to those of you who missed it, we hope to see you at our next meeting!

Our next meeting, by the way, will take place TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25TH, DURING LUNCH IN THE LIBRARY.

For those of you who are wondering just why we chose such an odd day, it’s because Methi has some very important stuff to tell us about our part in Sprague’s carnival next Friday. Feel free to bring your lunches into the library to eat there. The meeting will probably be very short - we just need to run some stuff past you guys. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to volunteer and help the club out at the carnival, and also an excellent way to earn some street cred if you’re planning on running for vice-president or officer at the end of the year. *winkwink*

We hope to see you all on Tuesday!

Ok so to clarify for Lisa: I am out of school all next week since I have surgery on the tenth. You guys are free to have a meeting without me though. You can ask Allie to text me if she needs anything and you can always give me a call. I just will be too weak to be doing much other than lying in bed.

I think we’re just gonna wait to have our meeting two weeks from now.

I hope you don’t hurt too bad from that surgery!

~Allie

What if we have our meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12 since we are not here on Thursday and Friday. I cannot meet the following week (Thurs. Oct. 20) as I have a different meeting to attend. :( Also, interest is high right now...let's keep the momentum going. :) - Lisa

I can’t attend on Wednesday (I have GSA), but I’m not sure about Methi. You should ask her!

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Because of unforseen circumstances, there will be no meeting this week as previously described.

Next week, we do not have school on either Thursday or Friday, so our next Manga Club meeting will be in two weeks, upon our return to school.

I am very sorry for any confusion, and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!

~ Allie

I don't have a question! I just wanted to say NICE JOB on the first meeting and on the website. Looks fab! As for new members...over 1/2? I created the official sign-in sheet. 35 names and counting!!! -Lisa...your faculty advisor! :)

Thank you so much, Lisa! I take great pride in this website, haha. I shall be sure to add you to our list of super important people on the side of the blog! <3
